Another year of market volatility, low returns to producers, global supply disruptions, climate events and the ongoing transition from food subsidies have eroded confidence within the sector. Farmers have continued lowering production levels and redeploying land to other uses to protect their assets.
This report to government, parliamentarians and policymakers highlights the value of the agri-food supply chain to the social, economic and environmental ambitions for the country. And it asks them to consider how to bring profitability to food production today, to protect food security tomorrow.
